Clunch (Chalk) blocks in wall behind Hills Road, 2010

A wonderful find of some old clunch blocks, still retained within a brick wall, just off of Hills Road, Cambridge. You can see St Paul's Church in the background. The village of Cherry Hinton, Cambridge was a major supplier of the high quality chalk (Clunch) for buildings since at least the early medieval period.
